Maple-I (Maple Industries) is the innovation branch of Maple People. Maple-I will generate new ideas, seek funding and develop products in readiness for approval, manufacture, sales and support. Although separate from Maple People, it will share resources such as researchers, office space and funding, as well as the overall Maple People ethos.


Job description

As the leader, you will be responsible to grow this branch of the business and recruit equally exceptional talent. You will work within the Maple People office as a team and will be involved in bridging construction pain points and innovating new products that compliment and strengthen Maple People’s constriction offering.

Role and responsibilities

  • Lead the design of multiple innovations within commercial interiors.
  • Seek and recruit companies and individuals to provide support regarding technical build processes, including electronics, mechanical components, software and apps.
  • Develop documentation for compliance, testing and generating funding.
  • Have the ability to understand (if not already experienced in) commercial interior systems and implement innovations and solutions to drive change within the industry.
  • Be the catalyst for design detailing and coordinating with other designers; be a hands-on technical designer.
  • Working with the Founder & CEO, research and secure manufacturing, delivery and installation process and team.
  • Lead the way in securing Patents for innovations in conjunction with the legal team.
  • Contribute to and drive our internal design guide; a way of documenting the innovative solutions we create.
  • Be in charge of compliance, maintaining our ISOs as well as take on new ISOs as part of the business’ growth plans.

Essential requirements

  • Industrial design background with strong electronics and mechanical knowledge
  • Proven record of product development into production
  • Strong background in business and management with demonstrable evidence of growth within roles, as well as the results delivered.
  • A creative approach to thinking and problem solving
  • A drive to make positive change on a global scale 
  • Interest in sustainable construction, people and the planet
